In a remarkable achievement for local education, Mrs. Melissa Bird, a dedicated second-grade teacher at Adelaide Elementary, has been selected as one of eight recipients of the Taking the Ed Leap grant. Funded in partnership with the Davis Education Foundation and Professional Learning and Quality Staffing, the grant aims to foster innovative teaching practices in the classroom.

Out of 41 applicants, Mrs. Bird stood out with her compelling proposal and student-centered video submission that aligned with the High Reliability Schools Level 1 framework, focusing on creating a safe and collaborative culture for her students.

Her project, which emphasizes collaboration and emotional safety in the classroom, impressed the selection committee, highlighting her commitment to fostering a positive learning atmosphere. As a grant recipient, Mrs. Bird will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the renowned "Get Your Teach On" conference in Las Vegas, where she will engage with educators from across the country and gain new insights to implement in her classroom.
